The Governor of Colorado, made it illegal to affect job discrimination against felons. Jobs for felons should be easier to get now, at least in Colorado. The law, House Bill 1023, which he signed on March 29, 2010 specifically….
prohibits an employee’s criminal history from being part of a lawsuit against a business unless that criminal history has direct applicability to the legal action
So what does that mean? Well if you got convicted of a drug crime, an auto insurance company should have no problem hiring you now, their insurance rates against being sued because you’re a felon are going to go down, way down, for that specific coverage. Thats why a lot of big companies don’t hire felons, the increase in liability and the increased cost of insuring against it.
